Jerez Flamenco Festival
The annual festival of everything Flamenco
In the final week of February and the first week of March, Jerez is transformed into the worldwide epicentre of Flamenco. Already the birthplace of flamenco, Jerez, through this annual festival, also undertakes the nurturing and growth of flamenco in the twenty first century. The festival welcomes new ideas and influences from other genres, hoping to ensure the continued expansion and adaptation of this age-old tradition in modern times. Throughout the festival fortnight there are daily and nightly shows in theatres, tablaos and bars throughout the city. The most famous artists perform in the Teatro Villamarta. Renowned flamenco teachers come to the city to give classes to flamenco lovers who have made the cultural pilgrimage from all over the world. Perhaps unlike other festivals in the province, when visiting the Jerez flamenco festival, one needs to know where to go and who to see in order to fully enjoy this cultural highlight.
